Spinal (Intrathecal) Narcotic

For rapid pain relief, our Spinal (Intrathecal) Narcotic option is a popular choice. This single-shot technique provides quick pain relief that can last for up to three hours, making it an effective solution for many expectant mothers.

Epidural Medication for Labor Pain Control

Our Epidural Medication for labor involves placing a microcatheter into the epidural space of the patient’s back, allowing for continuous infusion of pain medication. This method ensures sustained pain relief, regardless of the labor’s duration, while maintaining the mother’s muscle strength, enabling her to move freely before delivery.

Nitrous Oxide for Labor Pain

Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” is another option we provide. Our blend is 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen, self-administered by the laboring mother. While this does not act as anesthesia, it can create a sense of relaxation and ease during labor.

Patient Controlled Epidural Analgesia (PCEA)

With Patient Controlled Epidural Analgesia (PCEA), control of medication delivery lies in the hands of the laboring mother. Post epidural catheter insertion, the mother can use a push button device to self-administer pain medication during episodes of intense pain, offering a sense of control and empowerment over pain management.

At RAMC, we pride ourselves on integrating the latest technological advancements and up-to-date techniques into our anesthesia services.
