Athletic Training
Services

At Reedsburg Area Medical Center (RAMC), we take pride in offering exceptional athletic training services to our community. Our certified athletic trainers (ATs) play a critical role in preventing, assessing, treating, and rehabilitating sports-related injuries. Partnering with physicians, our ATs provide holistic care tailored to each athlete’s needs, ensuring optimal health and performance.

The Role of Athletic Trainers in Modern Healthcare

Athletic trainers are specialized healthcare professionals who work in collaboration with physicians to manage musculoskeletal and general medical conditions. Our ATs actively engage with Reedsburg High School, youth football teams, outpatient therapy, and the Maintain and Restore program at RAMC. Their expertise spans several key areas, including:

Prevention & Wellness Promotion

Our athletic trainers excel in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors to enhance wellness and minimize injury and illness risks. They deliver effective education and communication strategies, such as designing ankle sprain prevention programs, ergonomic adjustments, and taping techniques to keep athletes in peak condition.

Assessment & Diagnosis

ATs at RAMC use evidence-based examinations to formulate accurate clinical diagnoses. Whether you have foot, ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder, elbow, or wrist pain, our ATs conduct thorough assessments to develop tailored care plans. This involves systematic approaches to identify the root causes of discomfort and prescribe effective treatments.

Emergency Care

In urgent situations, our athletic trainers integrate best practices for immediate care, ensuring optimal outcomes. From managing head and neck injuries to addressing fractures, dislocations, heat stroke, or cardiac events, our ATs are prepared to provide swift and efficient care on the field and during medical emergencies.

Treatment & Rehabilitation

RAMC's ATs offer comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning services to help athletes recover fully. Utilizing therapeutic exercises, modality devices, manual techniques, and more, our athletic trainers aim to restore optimal activity levels. Their treatment methods include ice therapy, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, massage, cupping, and therapeutic taping.

Healthcare Administration

Beyond direct care, our athletic trainers manage administrative tasks like budget management. These behind-the-scenes efforts ensure streamlined and effective patient care, allowing athletes to focus on their recovery and performance.

Why Choose Athletic Trainers at RAMC?

Choosing RAMC’s athletic trainers means choosing top-tier, certified professionals dedicated to sports medicine. Unlike general “trainers,” our ATs possess extensive medical training, board certification, and state licensure standards. This rigorous background ensures you receive the highest quality of care.
